Due to the scale of disruption due to Covid, and the possible impact on education across pupils, the Government have put ‘fairness at the heart’ for planning for exams in 2022. Exam boards are also working closely with each other to ensure consistency.
Grades will be decided via external exams and marking, rather than teacher assessments. However, the grade boundaries will be more lenient and will be set at a ‘mid-point’ between 2019 pre-pandemic grade boundaries and those used in teacher assessments in 2021. More generous grade boundaries are being designed to account for lost learning and also ‘push forward’ students who would otherwise ‘just miss’ out on a higher grade.
For Maths and Science exams, formulae sheets and equations will be provided.
